Everyone is someone
Your people are individuals with homes, trades and families. There are no throwaway armies: send men to sea and the fields at home go unharvested.
Hardpan Games
A Bronze Age city-builder where nothing teleports. Every jug of water is carried by a named person, every road is worn in by their feet, and the end of the world arrives as a drought.
Your people are individuals with homes, trades and families. There are no throwaway armies: send men to sea and the fields at home go unharvested.
There is no global stockpile. Water travels in jugs fired at your kiln, grain in baskets on someone's back. A well placed too far away is a problem you can see from the walking.
Droughts come first, then the raiders and the broken trade routes. Your palace economy has to be taken apart in time to save the people inside it.
Collapse is in early development by Hardpan Games, a one-person studio. Right now the simulation core and a grey-box village are being built and tested: people, water, food, clay and timber, and a drought that tests whether your village can adapt.
A Kickstarter is planned for spring 2027, once a playable piece of the game looks the way it should. Sign up to hear when it goes live.
Short clips of paths wearing into the ground, wells running dry and villages that almost make it. One email when there is something worth showing.
